Trip into Federal Hill with Kodak Gold 120mm
Had a tattoo appointment in Federal Hill last month, here are some film scans of frames taken with my Pentax 6x7 and a roll of Kodak Gold 200. I like the fact that you only get 10 frames per roll. It feels like a good number, not too many that you feel like you are taking shots just to fill the roll. Only problem is my film sleeves can only slot 8 of the frames in 1 page.
Experimental Film: Wolfen NC400
Results from an experimental film, Wolfen NC400
I tried my hand at a roll of Wolfen NC400, 35mm color negative film. it came in a 36 exposure roll and to be honest, i shot 35mm so infrequently that I forgot what roll was in the camera after the 10th exposure. I did not expect much of anything Nor did I really shoot with any intention. That being said at least one shot from the roll seemed to be a happy accident that made the purchase worthwhile. The film itself isn’t what I would consider high quality The white balance seemed to favor blues and was all around very cool color temperature. I had to do more post processing than I liked for some images but after deciding to just lean into it I would consider this film a nice one to shoot if you are simply looking to experiment. I don’t normally shoot for a “retro” or “Vintage” look, but this film, with its color imperfections and flares does seem to lend itself to that style very nicely. Though I would not buy this again, I think some may find a use for it.
New Medium Format Camera
Recently purchased an Asahi Pentax 6x7 with the MLU and I got to say, it is a beautiful camera. The 105mm lens lives up to the hype. I have uploaded some photos from the first couple rolls I put through, but I think this is going to be my new primary for a while.
I have been playing with the decision to keep or lose the film border on my scans. I want there to be evidence of the physical process but I understand how simple it would be to fake this border. That being said, I am not sure how else to document the physical in digital spaces. Maybe I begin making prints, and taking photos of the photos? Maybe we shouldn’t have to prove the physical?
